Tableware came later in my practice than figurines and jewelry. I used to quite frankly dislike throwing until I got a hang of it and now it’s become one of the most satisfying activities in the studio. I started offering Tableware commissions last year and in 2023 I made quite a collection of bowls, mugs and tumblers with your favorite animals. Let’s review a year of Tableware commissions.
If you’d like to see the other commissions from 2023, check them out :
So much so that I had to divide the commission retrospective into categories :
- Bijoux commissions
- Figurine commissions
- Tableware commissions (you’re here)
- Memorial Urns commissions
Tumbler and cups commissions
Tumblers are small vessels that are perfect to hold a nice espresso coffee, a small dessert or a collection of little trinkets. They’re usually made with white stoneware which is quite sturdy, illustrated and then glazed with clear, food safe glaze.
As for any commission, customers can ask for a portrait of their animal or for a piece from the collection that they missed during a restock.
Cups are a little taller vessels, without handles they are lovely for a cup of tea, cold beverages or granola and yogurt. This one is speckled and glazed, which I rarely do 🙂
Tea Cups Commissions
This cup is part of a set with two tea cups, which is a nice segway into our next part, tea cups ! Tea cups are wider vessels with a handle, they’re typically used for tea but can hold anything you like like hot chocolate or a latte.
Custom Mugs
Speaking of matching sets, this figurine and mug portraits of a lovely ginger will start the mug section. It’s probably the tableware piece I make the most. They can be thrown with white clay, black clay, red or speckled. Some get an overall glaze, others are left unglazed outside like the black ones.
The brief for the above mug was : Seymour likes to be long. So here is a long Seymour mug 🙂
Lastly is the mug made for Fabled Farm rescue as a prize for their Fall Charity Event.
That’s it for the long mug section of the Tableware commissions ! Now onto bowls 🙂
Custom Bowls
Bowls come in several sizes, they’re usually medium sized, a 5 inches wide and 3 inches tall bowl is the standard here. They can be thrown with white or black stoneware, an occasional red or speckled clay gets thrown when requested.
Commissioned Jewelry trays
I love doing jewelry trays, they’re small flat dishes with a sculpted animal on them. These are often decorated with gold and offer a lovely choice of glaze colors.
Other tableware commissions
