Cross foxes are a melanistic variant of the red fox, vulpes vulpes. They’re quite impressive but fairly common in the northern range of their habitats. They make for about 30% of the fox population in northern Canada.
This diving head first figurine is a cross fox, handcrafted in Montréal. It’s about 8 cm high and stable on its front legs and nose.
